how spinal decompression works
Gentle, non-surgical spinal decompression
We’re pleased to offer spinal decompression therapy using the Spine MT Core decompression table at North Brisbane Chiropractic.
Spinal decompression is a gentle, computer-assisted form of traction designed to apply a controlled stretch to the spine. It may be used as part of a broader chiropractic management plan for people experiencing certain types of lower back pain, sciatica or disc-related symptoms.
Rather than applying a constant stretch, the MT Core allows your chiropractor to carefully control and customise the amount, location and pattern of traction according to your individual presentation.
How does spinal decompression work?
During treatment, you lie comfortably on the decompression table while a carefully controlled traction force is applied to the spine.
The aim is to temporarily reduce mechanical loading and pressure through particular areas of the spine and provide a gentle stretch to the surrounding joints and soft tissues.
Treatment is individualised to each patient. Before recommending spinal decompression, your chiropractor will take a health history and perform an appropriate assessment to determine whether this form of care is suitable for you.
